An art therapy support group for children in Year 6 who will be going to secondary school in September 2019
This group is for children who are in year 6, with SEND, with or without an EHC Plan, who are entering mainstream secondary school in September 2019.
*Children who are pre-diagnosis are welcome.
The group will run every Friday evening from Friday 6th September 2019 to Friday 13th December 2019, including the half term, in a central Croydon location (tbc)*. Spaces are limited to 12 and by previous booking only.
The group is run by two qualified BACP registered therapists who will use art to support neurodivergent children to talk about and process their anxieties, fears and worries about settling into a new school. The group aims to act as a temporary but consistent support for children for the first three months of this difficult time of transition.
Each week children will be given a themed art activity which will act as a starting point for discussion and support. The group will last 90 minutes. Children do not have to have any previous experience with art to take part.
Please note: This is a closed group to enable the children to bond and to provide as much consistency as possible. Sessions will run weekly, at a cost of £150 per child for the whole 15 week period, equivalent to £10 per session. Payment for the complete programme is requested upfront.
There are two subsidised places available for children from low income families who would not otherwise be able to afford support. These will be given on a first come first serve basis and proof of income will be required.
If you would like your child to attend this group, or to find out more please contact either:
* Please note: we choose the venue dependent upon the accessibility needs of the group. Venue will be confirmed once places are full. The venue will be a Croydon location.
